Install ExpiryPoint
Upload the package to your app catalog once, add the web part to a page, enter your licence key.
Before you start
- SharePoint Online in Microsoft 365.
- A SharePoint administrator, once, to upload the package to your app catalog.
- An owner of the site where reviews will run.
Upload it to your app catalog
- Download the package from the Get started page.
- In the SharePoint admin centre, open More features, then Apps.
- On the Manage apps page, choose Upload and pick the file.
- When asked, make it available to all sites, so site owners can add it to their pages.
No admin consent is needed to use ExpiryPoint. It requests one optional permission, for email only; see below.
Switch on email (optional)
ExpiryPoint sends reminder and notification emails through Microsoft Graph, from the mailbox of the person who sends them. For that, a SharePoint administrator approves its single optional permission: Microsoft Graph, Mail.Send (delegated).
- In the SharePoint admin centre, open Advanced, then API access.
- Under Pending requests, find the Microsoft Graph request for Mail.Send from ExpiryPoint.
- Choose Approve. Email is on as soon as people reload the page with ExpiryPoint.
- If Approve reports that a service principal could not be found: SharePoint Framework solutions in your tenant now sign in through the Microsoft Entra app "SharePoint Online Web Client Extensibility". A Global or Privileged Role Administrator can add the delegated Microsoft Graph permission Mail.Send to that app's existing organisation-wide consent instead. Ask us and we will walk you through it.
Without this approval ExpiryPoint still works fully for reviewing: people get a pre-filled email to send themselves, and reminders on a fixed schedule can run through your own Power Automate flow.
Add it to a page
- On the site, create a page for reviews, for example "Document reviews". A full-width section works best.
- Choose the plus sign to add a web part, search for ExpiryPoint and add it.
- Publish the page. Without a licence, ExpiryPoint shows a free snapshot of how old the site's documents are.
Enter your licence key
Choose Licence at the top of ExpiryPoint, then Enter licence key, and paste your key. A site owner or SharePoint administrator does this once; the key is never shown on the page afterwards. No key yet? Get a free 14-day trial key.
Make it available in Teams
Your administrator can make ExpiryPoint available in Microsoft Teams from the app catalog. People then add it as a personal app to see their own reviews, or a team adds it as a tab in a channel.
